Books are a life source for me, they help me to escape to another place. I become the characters and live the book through them. The words on the page play out like a movie in my mind. My favorite books to read are romance and contemporary as I can easily escape through them and do not have to put too much thought into what I am reading. Plus I am a sucker for a good (and happy) ending. I have read thousands of books, no joke. In August 2013 my best friend insisted I join www.goodreads.com so that we can share book recommendations and rate the books we have read. As of today(six months later) I have read 529 books (an average of 2.5 books a day!) and my best friend has read just as many. Through this blog we will review many of the books we have read and hopefully ignite (or renew) a passion for reading and celebrate the authors who bring us these books we love. We also look forward to getting many recommendations for books to read! So I am going to start off with my favorite book that I have read in the past six months and that is.....
When it rains (Rain #1) by Lisa De Jong
This books has it all, first love, struggle, loss, strength, and tragedy. We first meet Kate who is overcoming something horrible that has happened to her and ultimately changed her life as she new it. You can feel the love between her and her best friend Beau as he gets ready to head off to college, however she is not in a place in her life where she can process these feelings. She has kept everything that has happened to her bottled up and let herself distance herself from others. As she struggles just to get through each day, she meets a newcomer to town, Asher. At this point let me explain that once I am introduced to a potential couple, they are forever cemented in my brain and I usually hate any newcomer to the story as this may fracture "my couple". However, I feel completely in love with Asher. Kate and Asher's journey is like no other.... At this point I will stop as it will completely ruin the point of reading the story. However, let me tell you that this book is an "ugly cry". I cried so hard that I had a headache and felt my heart breaking. This is a true testament to the author. I immediately made my best friend read it and she had an "ugly cry " as well. I look forward to the next installment in this series and hope that it can live up to my expectations.
There you have it folks...the first blog is in the books. We look forward to your comments and recommendations and you can look forward to many more reviews. And just to note...even though I tend to read more of the young adult and true love story books, my best friend leans more to the BDSM and more intensive books so you will get a true variety.
